It takes an exceptional team to keep this ship afloat and power the birth revolution. Every single person on the Motherled team brings incredible skill, endless passion and a genuine appreciation for a good cup of coffee. They are the people changing the world, one birth at a time.
Meet Our Founders
Kirsten Gerrish, CDM
I am a lover of all things peaceful - quiet moments in the early morning hours, knitting, wool, animals of all kinds and a good cup of tea. I enjoy reading, knitting and snuggling newborn babies. I am the wife of an inventor who is masquerading as a software engineer during the day and a mother to four children. Our cabin in the woods is filled with music, art supplies, one St. Bernard and two cats. I have been attending births in Alaska for the last 19 years and the magic is still there for me. Those quiet, tender, powerful moments spent in the middle of the night in the dimness of the birth room are magical. We hold that space and keep watch over the normalcy of the process.
Lena Kilic, CDM
I'm an Aries, mother of 2 and tireless champion for bees and chickens. I began my journey as an apprentice under Kirsten and we hit the ground running, opening 3 birth centers in 4 years. These were also the years my children were born. Needless to say, I'm still catching up on sleep. My husband and I live in a renovated RV and he is the yin to my yang. Birth work feeds my soul in a way that nothing else has. To sit quietly and hold space while a woman digs deeper than she thought possible, to be the calm center in her storm, to see her face as she pulls her baby out and up - these are the reasons I love my job. To work with this collective of powerful women though is why I'll never leave.
Kaleigh Pannone, CBE
I am a childbirth educator, doula, and Motherled care advocate. After my own negative experience in the hospital for the birth of my first child, I knew that it was my calling to be the advocate I had needed in that experience. I have dedicated my life to the education and support of women so they can best make their own choices for their pregnancy and birth. I am the mother to two kind and generous sons and an intelligent and fierce daughter. I am married to a real estate mogul and aspiring Viking who wholeheartedly supports the crazy hours birthwork requires I believe the best three things in the world are a hot cup of coffee, a good book, and a snuggly cat
