While knowing that those suffering from severe heartburn are more likely to have babies born with lots of hair is neat, it does nothing to lessen the suffering of our sizzling sisters.
So, here are some evidence based tips to soothe. It's important to keep in mind that pregnancy heartburn is hormone related so while some of these tips may give you relief, nothing will make it stop entirely except for baby being born.
1. Avoid Spicy Foods
I realize this one seems like a no brainer but the science is behind it.
2. Eat your Greens
Recent studies found that green vegetables protected women from GERD symptoms
3. See your chiropractor
While I wouldn't consider this one proven yet, case studies as this one call for larger investigations into the effectiveness. Anecdotal evidence supports this treatment.
4. Avoid Certain Fatty Foods
We know that fat is very important to the human diet. Studies suggest that polyunsaturated fatty acids can contribute to heartburn.
5. Sleep at an Incline
While less than ideal, adding a few inches of height to the head of your bed can help! Using gravity to your advantage is reported to give relief.
